In the hype of everything and everyone going green, we’re pretty sure that most of you have heard you should eat what’s in season. It sounds obvious, but most of us don’t actually do it. We’ll go out of our way to get items which are not being grown locally, items which we can’t easily get at the local grocer.
Sure it’s not always possible to stick to this rule, but being conscious about it will help you make smarter decisions that could just help you save a few dollars each month. Plus we’d be avoiding the environmental concerns with shipping organic foods.
Summer and fall are the seasons where we have the most abundance of fruits and vegetables, and winter is of course the season with the least. Here’s a quick list of the fruits and veggies in peak season this month:
