What is the purpose of sequels? Why to wrap up any loose ends of the story, of course. And what’s the best time of year for sequels? Why summer, of course. And this is Marv’s third (and likely final) installment in the Gaucho Summer Fun series. It’s summer savings on the cheap.

After a Top 5 that is basically an instruction manual in subverting the harsh and draconian laws of first-run movie theaters, Marv ties up the loose ends of the Summer Fun Series. It’s Baseball, BBQ and how to have a real effective vacation at home (AKA STAY-cation). You will learn all kinds of things. How to throw an incredibly cheap 4th of July Party (U.S. viewers only), what baseball games to go to, and what size sub sandwiches will fit in standard cargo shorts pockets. All the information that’s fit to print – or in this case edited to fit. Either way.

Enjoy that summer, Gauchos. And keep more cash while you’re doing it!

Don’t get too excited. It’s just the very near future, as we talk gadgets. Hardware, software and everything in between (semi-software?) are discussed. Like what, you ask? Well, how about the exciting sneak peek photos of the new upcoming iPhone? I straight up take them from gizmodo.com so you can take a look. Also, new products from Tivo, new touchscreen operating systems from Blackberry – yes, I’m throwing a bone to all you Storm users and iPhone haters – and a new wifi enabled SD card for your digital camera. Toys! Toys! Toys!

In this episode Marv does some incredibly helpful things (like telling you the Top 5 ways to save money on your cleaning budget) and some incredibly stupid things (like smearing a window with Chocolate Sundae Syrup). You heard me right.

In this episode Marv does some incredibly helpful things (like telling you the Top 5 ways to save money on your cleaning budget) and some incredibly stupid things (like smearing a window with Chocolate Sundae Syrup). You heard me right.

It’s all in the name of science. Or not. Who knows?

Since it’s Spring and it’s time to clean Marv decides to put some multi-purpose cleaners to the test. Sure, you can pay big bucks for fancy brands of cleaning supplies – Method cleaning products, I’m looking at YOU – or you can buy the store brand for much less. Which is the better deal? I’d pay more if the more expensive brand cleans better.

Watch to find out how this barn burner turns out.

If you have a problem with Marv’s scientific methodology on this test (who wouldn’t?), let him know in the comments and feel free to laugh at him. He’s used to it.

Also, not addressed in the episode, but something that is hard to ignore, yes Marv is rocking a new facial hair look. Finally he can look more like his hero Ambrose Burnside. Who wouldn’t want to rock some fancy facial hair like that?!?

This week, Marv peers into the dark heart of that drawer in the bottom of your fridge. No, not the meat drawer (or tofu drawer for you vegetarians). And no, not the egg drawer, because that's not a real thing. No, I'm talking about your produce drawer. AKA "Crisper" as it is known in weirder regions of the universe.

Can it be possible that it has been 17 magical episodes so far? It CAN!

This week, Marv peers into the dark heart of that drawer in the bottom of your fridge. No, not the meat drawer (or tofu drawer for you vegetarians). And no, not the egg drawer, because that’s not a real thing. No, I’m talking about your produce drawer. AKA “Crisper” as it is known in weirder regions of the universe.

How does one save money on produce in this day and age? Good question! Marv gives you a few handy answers. Some as simple as getting to know the produce manager at your local grocery store. Others involve going to the Natural Resource Defense Council’s website to find when produce is fresh in your area. http://www.nrdc.org/health/foodmiles/ That way, you’re not paying as much for trucking, you’re helping the local economy, decreasing your carbon footprint, blah blah blah. You get the idea. The real thing is you get the freshest produce, which will last longer, taste better, and more likely be eaten than thrown away. Other tips include not buying pre-cut veggies. You know that tub of diced onions at the supermarket? Yeah, they’re charging you sometimes triple what that onion costs. And for what? A quick slice and dice. It’s madness, I tell you! Invest in a good knife and a good cutting board and they will pay for themselves quickly as you prep your own fruit and veggies. All this and more.

Also there’s the top five best times of the year to stock up your pantry. Clearly I put a bunch of work into it, because one of the times was “all year long.” So listen for me try to talk my way out of that one.

It’s hilarious savings hijinks in less time than you normally spend trying to find those pants that you know are in the back of that one drawer. (P.S. You accidentally gave them to goodwill. I know, because I’m wearing them.)

Where do you get your music in the internet age? Did you say CD’s?!? HA HA HA HA! Good one, brontosaurus! Back to the stone age with ye! We live in the internet age. I mean, you’re watching THIS on the internet, so come on! Get with it. We DOWNLOAD our music ’round these parts.

But how do you download your music, and are you getting the best deal? Well, in this episode of Gaucho TV, Marv talks about the heavy hitters. iTunes and Amazon MP3 are the industry leaders of downloadable music. Which offers the best value for your music buying dollar? Marv covers the pros and cons of both of these, but omits Napster, because in his humble opinion “subscription services are for the birds.”

Now let’s say you just want to stream music to your computer or your smartphone. Well there’s options for that as well. We cover Pandora, Grooveshark, Last.fm, Jango, and Aol. Music just to name a few. Some of them offer smartphone compatibility, many do not. Make an informed decision, my lovelies! Unfortunately, Marv ran out of time to talk about his favorite semi-free music site for independent artists, Bandcamp. But you should check it out.

Also, this episode shows us the top five ways to stay cool this summer on the cheap. Four of which are totally reasonable, and one which is only for the more daring among us. Enjoy!

This week in GauchoTV, Marv brings us the top 5 things to replace to save you money, and how to save money using Craigslist... in all around 5 minutes. Sweet!

You know the old saying, good things always come in fifteens. And that saying must be true, because I just made it up. Yes, episode 15 of GauchoTV had everything you could possibly want… and MORE! Or less, actually. You see, we’re trying out a new more form-fitting size. Marv has a tendency to ramble, but 9 minutes is a long time to watch any one person do any one thing. So we’re trying to bring ‘em in under 5 minutes, when possible. We almost made it this time. But I digress.

P.S: Sorry for the wait on this one. I completely blame it on our new editor James. We’ll be back to normal, now!

This week you got the Top 5 Things To Replace to Save Money. We only have time to bring you 5, but there are many many more, some lists give you as many as 55 ways to save money. Although rest assured, there are many more. The theme of this week’s episode was how Craigslist can be used to save you money on those late night impulse infomercial purchases you may be inclined to make. All-purpose better living blog Lifehacker offers additional ways you can use Craigslist more effectively to sell stuff or buy stuff. And of course, Craigslist can be used just as a source of tremendous/absurd entertainment.

Tune in next time when Marv MAY remember to review the still-fresh-from-the-lab Gaucho iPhone/iPod Touch App. Yes, soon you will be able to Gaucho on the go, and be like all your other friends who avoid each other at parties while they stare at their iPhones.

It will be magical. Tune in for it!

GauchoCast? GauchoTV? Livestreaming GauchoTV? What’s going on?

It seems there’s been some confusion out there with our Twitter friends and others. Sorry we didn’t explain this better. Here’s the deal.
</l>

GauchoTV

Gaucho TV is savings news, product reviews and general merriment in short, easily digestible segments brought to you by our buddy Marv.
</l>

GauchCast

Is now GauchoTV! We changed the name last week.
</l>

Live, Streaming GauchoTV

It’s GauchoTV. Only this week, we’ll start broadcasting live.

That’s right, starting Thursday February 25th at 9PM EST/6PM PST, GauchoTV will be streaming live, each week, every week.

For our first show, Marv will be talking to Julia from The Frugal Find. They’ll discuss ways to save, of course, plus they’ll give away prizes ($25 Gift Cards to Target), answer questions, give you the low-down on what savings blogs to follow, and even explain how you, yes you!, can start blogging.

You can tune into the premier of Live GauchoTV at Live.Gaucho.com.
